Millaisia Illustrating Me -sarjakuvapajat ovat?

Ruohonjuurisarjakuva (Grassroots Comics) on tarina, joka kerrotaan visuaalisesti neljän ruudun avulla. Aloittelevat piirtäjät harjoittelevat ensin tikku-ukkojen ja ilmeiden piirtämistä. Sitten jokainen miettii itselle merkityksellisen tapahtuman, ajatuksen tai mielipiteen ja luonnostelee sen ydinkohdat neljään pieneen ruutuun. Pieniltä ruuduilta piirtäjä kopioi tarinansa A3-kokoon ja vahvistaa lyijykynäviivat mustalla tussilla. Piirtämisprosessin aikana ohjaajat pyrkivät huolehtimaan siitä, että sarjakuvan sanoma on ymmärrettävä  ja välittyy muille.

Teemme mielellämme yhteistyötä erilaisten yhteenliittymien ja organisaatioiden kanssa. Ruohonjuurisarjakuva soveltuu lähes mille tahansa ryhmälle. Sitä on käytetty ympäri maailmaa kansalaisjärjestöjen ihmisoikeustyössä  ja erilaisten vähemmistöjen näkemysten ja kokemusten esiin tuomisessa. Maailman sarjakuvat ry:n ohjaajia on parhaiten paikalla pääkaupunkiseudulla ja Joensuussa. Ota yhteyttä, yhteystiedot löytyvät sivun lopusta.

Olemme monialainen ryhmä ihmisiä, joka kokoontuu Helsingissä parin kuukauden välein. Tavoitteemme on antaa sarjakuvan avulla ääni niille, joiden ääni ei muuten kuulu. Pidämme sarjakuvatyöpajoja, koulutamme työpajaohjaajia, järjestämme näyttelyitä ja keräämme toimintavaroja kehittämällämme karikatyyriautomaatilla. Pyrimme työllämme vähentämään eriarvoisuutta ja edistämään vähemmistöjen oikeuksia ja mahdollisuuksia. Mottomme on, että kaikki osaavat piirtää. Comics Workshops

What is Illustrating Me comics workshop?

Grassroot Comics are comic stories told visually in four panels. The participants who have very little experience in drawing start the work by copying stick figures and simple facial expressions. The person comes up with an idea which is important for her/him: an incident, or a reflection of things. The essential elements of the person’s idea are sketched in four very small panels. From this small scale the comic is copied to size A3. The pencil lines are then strengthened with black marker pen. During the drawing process the workshop instructors support the workshop participants to make the message of the comic as understandable as possible.

Our comics workshop trainers live in Helsinki metropolitan area and Joensuu. We are happy to organize workshops with your community. We are also interested in creating projects together with partners. A low treshold method grassroot comics has been used in all over the world in human rights work and highlighting the voice of minorities. We are a multi-professional group of people who gather every two month in Helsinki. We support groups who lack the means to make their voices heard. We offer free access to our grass-roots oriented  comic method, based on the principles of open access and open source knowledge. We organize comics workshops with different kinds of groups, train trainers for workshops, create exhibitions and collect funds. Our goal is to strengthen equality and work for the rights and of minorities. Our motto is that everyone can draw. Anyone can also become a grassroot comics trainer. Contact us!
